What Layered loved in… January

Each month, we’re inundated with the latest hair products (have we mentioned we love our jobs?), so let us share our findings with you on the regular. Here, we trawl through the haul from January to bring you the ones worth trying and buying. You’re welcome!

Redken’s six new shades

Going grey has never been so cool and this is encapsulated perfectly by Redken Shades EQ’s two new silver shades, as seen on Vogue fashion features director, Sarah Harris (pictured). We love the polished Silver for its beautiful metallic tones. Meanwhile, the new pastel shades by Shades EQ will keep the millennial pink brigade happy. The four shades are: Pastel Pink – a soft pink used by colour king Josh Wood at Alexander Wang S/S18; Pastel Peach – a pale orange balanced with pink tones; Aqua Blue – a radiant blue with tones of warmth; and Silver Green – a grass-like green with metallic shimmer.

Aveda Pure-fume Hair Mists

We love a hair perfume (anything that keeps our hair smelling fresh as a daisy is a good thing in our books) and Aveda has unveiled three new aromas in its Pure-fume Hair Mists range, inspired by Brazil (Marassona), the Middle East (Alanara) and Asia (Mihana).

L’Oréal Professionnel’s new Parisian Chic shades

There are some models who just exude effortless cool, a certain laissez-faire chic that women crave. Alexa Chung has done that for the best part of a decade, which is why she is the face (or hair) of L’Oréal Professionnel’s Parisian Chic new shades and service. Ms Chung is rocking the #COLOURMEFRENCH technique, a pairing of two bespoke brunette shades from the brand's Majirel line that will enhance your colour to create an effortless, multi-dimensional nude finish.

Wella Professionals Color Fresh Create

It’s been a colour-heavy month and the last, but by no means least, colour launch in January goes to Wella Professionals’ Color Fresh Create. With new technology that gives you true-to-tone fading (meaning it will fade consistently with the colour, so your blue won’t go green), the 12 rainbow shades (and one clear) will see you through all the summer festivals (yes, we’re already pining for sun-filled days and warmer temps).
