From raspberry to rose, pink hair is the lockdown look that just won’t quit
It started during Lockdown 1.0, as bored celebs got a little playful… now here we are, months on (and in lockdown again in the UK), and if you take one look through Instagram, you’ll see that pink hair craze is as rosy as ever. Chrissy Teigen and Rebel Wilson are the latest to embrace the trend, but can pink hair work for all? We spoke to two award-winning colourists to find out if everyone can have a brush with blush…
Perfect for adding a temporary pop of colour in lockdown, or switching up a look long-term once salons have reopened, fuchsia hues offer endless colour opportunities. Of all 40 of Crazy Colors iconic Semi Permanent shades, the best sellers are the five pink shades. Why? Because ‘pink hair, don’t care’ is a fun lifestyle choice that we could all use a little of right now.
Not just for the blondes and brunettes, hairdresser Tim Scott-Wright has created a stunning rose gold look on a natural red head. Called ‘Irish Blonde’ the colour is a playful nod to the Irish red head with the curly flowing locks. Ideal for those looking to embrace the trend once restrictions ease, Tim used a combination of baby lights and balayage to enhance the natural colour. ” I wanted to give a completely natural feel to the hair and I worked where I felt the hair needed to be lighter,” he explains.
“I took really fine lights close to the roots to create a halo of light around the face. The pink wash after sits over the copper gold base, achieving a beautiful rose gold. “The lighter parts from the balayage process developed to a baby pink while the warmer areas gave a stunning rose gold finish,” he adds.
Fancy taking a trip to the pink side for Lockdown 3.0?
Adding a temporary pop of rose gold pink “will temporarily mask any brassiness, will only last a couple of washes and your balayage will remain untouched,” says Crazy Color ambassasdor Sophia Hilton. Alternatively, Crazy Color’s Pastel Spray in shade Marshmallow is perfect for a quick, fun change. Got a virtual Galentines night on the horizon? This spray will give you peace of mind that your hair will be back to its natural state by the time you need to Zoom into the office on Monday.
