London Fashion Week A/W20 saw the rise of super-sleek and sculpted strands. Hair gel at the ready…

Wet-look waves and military inspired styling touches are a-go. At London Fashion Week A/W20 attention turned to face-framing touches, with the likes of Erdem, Preen and Richard Malone showcasing sculpted slicked back locks and low ponytails. Get ready to deep dive into the latest trend to channel for the season ahead. Here our a few of our favourite looks…
Erdem
Taking '20s style and giving it a futuristic twist, at Erdem it was all about a high-shine wet-look featuring modern-day finger waves, finished with a silver kirby grip. Created by session stylist extraordinaire Anthony Turner using a Dyson Supersonic hairdressing and lashings of L’Oréal Professionnel TECNI.ART Fix Max, this show proves that gel is your must-have styling product for winter.

Preen
High-shine and low ponytails were the order of the day at Preen, created by Eugene Souleiman for Wella Professionals. A clean centre parting was prepped before slicking back the rest into a low pony at the nape of the neck. Two front sections were left out and then wrapped around the ponytail for an elegant finish. If you're looking to upgrade your workwear style, this one's for you...

Molly Goddard
Inspired by the '90s It Girl with a grunge edge, Luke Hersheson for L’Oréal Professionnel created separated, piecey texture with a hint of movement. With more of an undone feel than most seen for the A/W season, this lived-in look is the perfect mix of sheen (thanks to L’Oréal Professionnel TECNI.ART Ring Light Shine Spray and the Liss Control+ Serum) and enhanced hair texture, which has been swept away from the face. It's bound to leave the cool girls wanting more...

Richard Malone
A mix of masculine traits from the '20s dandy with sleek ponytails, Richard Phillipart for BaByliss PRO proved the Roaring Twenties are back with a bang at Richard Malone. Using the BaByliss 9000 Cordless Straightener to create an ultra-smooth and feminine finish at the back, models sported military precision flat waves for a more masculine take at the front. Taking your tresses from day to night just got even cooler...

Aadnevik
At Dutch sustainable brand Aadnevik, the ponytails were well and truly snatched to give a super sleek finish, with extensions used for added drama. Styled high with a glass-like finish, Joseph Ferraro for Authentic Beauty Concept used the Amplify Mousse for adding all the lift while Glow Touch was perfect for getting that polished shine. Ariana Grande vibes all the way...

Emilia Wickstead
The '90s inspo is never ending, as Benjamin Muller for Dyson proved at Emilia Wickstead. Featuring a slicked down wave and a loose pony, the look offers a more relaxed take on the masculine ponytail seen across the shows. For those not yet ready to commit to a statement finger wave, this is a great place to start.

Christopher Kane
Guido Paulo for Redken delivered another wearable take on the trend at Christopher Kane, featuring a strong centre parting, slicked down for a frizz-free and ultra shiny finish, thanks to Redken Shine Flash 02. Scared to rock such a bold parting? We recommend playing around with it and to ‘try it all’ until you find what you like and what suits you. Just grab the Redken Triple Pure 32 Hairspray to spritz at the hairline to hold, while using your palms to keep the hair close to your head shape.
