Searching for the perfect at-home blow dry? We have the answer.

Zoë Irwin, ghd UK ambassador, creates a modern take on the ‘60s swoosh using the NEW ghd helios

Looking to take your blow dry game to the next level, but unsure where to start? Zoë Irwin has the answer! If, like us, you sometimes feel stuck in a styling rut, then this is for you! Using the new ghd helios, which offers faster drying time with 30% more shine, Zoë shares how to create soft sixties volume with a 2020 twist.

STEP 1
Spritz in ghd heat protect spray from root to tip before rough drying the hair

STEP 2
Take a wide ‘diamond’ section from the top, starting above the front of the ear and working towards the back

STEP 3
Blow dry on an angle, starting at the hairline near the nape of the neck

STEP 4
After blow drying each lower section, pin the curl in place to give extra volume

STEP 5
Use the ghd curl hold spray before blow drying around the sides and towards the front hairline, aiming nozzle forward

STEP 6
In the top section, blow dry through the diamond, taking horizontal sections while aiming nozzle at root to increase volume. Leave these sections to free fall without pinning

STEP 7
As you brush out, add a soft tease using the ghd oval dressing brush

STEP 8
Using the dressing brush, back comb the top sections for soft volume

STEP 9
Spritz hair with the ghd final fix hairspray to hold the style in place

Major swoosh in full effect

To take the blow dry from desk to disco, adding a few simple hair accessories allows you switch up your style easily. As styling extraordinaire Zoë suggests, take the front sections and pin at the back with a statement barrette for a soft glam finish. Alternatively, take inspiration from Zoë’s latest styling menu at John Frieda by using pieces of denim pulled into a bow loosely with hair half-up/half down. Swinging sixties with a modern twist? Sorted. Get your finest hair swoosh at the ready…
