Meet The Slither – the must-have colour trend for S/S21

First there was the money piece; then the chunky face frame… Now statement colour placement has been given a 2021 snakey twist

When salons reopen, there’s no doubt many of us will want to experiment with our look after months at home. So, for anyone looking to add a little interest without committing to a full head of vivid colour, this new colour trend provides the perfect inspo. Created by Becky Sutherland, of Pink Lemon Hair in Meadowfield, The Slither is the freshest way to add a snaking pop of colour to blonde or brunette locks.

“The Slither colour technique incorporates a section of hair colour in a juxtaposed hue to the rest of the hair. It works best on a full head colour with the slither effect almost peeking out of the main style,” says Becky.  Much like the popular ‘money piece‘ and face-framing techniques seen last year, The Slither really makes a statement when coloured using a contrasting shade, such as vivd brights or pastels.

Depending on your mood and lifestyle, this trending technique gives you the opportunity to try out different colours. Crazy Color and OSMO are Becky’s go-tos as they have endless shades to choose from. It’s also the perfect chance to live out your rainbow-hued dreams, or keep things subtle with two shades for a colour melt effect.

Feeling inspired? Though trying out a new ‘do may be on pause until salons reopen, investing in some good hair care is a great place to start. Becky recommends using the #SAVED range from Innoluxe, as the products help to protect against split ends, breakage and prevent your colour from fading.
