Award-winning hair on the high street – meet the Best Local Salon!

Leicester might not be the first place that springs to mind for award-winning hairdressing, but that’s where you’d be missing out. Malcolm Murphy Hair won big at the Most Wanted Awards, scooping Best Local Salon! They actually beat out another Leicester salon, former Best Local Salon winner George’s, for the title. There must be something in the water there…

Having spent seven years pampering and beautifying their Leicester locals, the team have a string of awards wins under their belts. With loving care and attention put into every corner of the salon – not to mention their five-star service which leave you feeling like royalty – it’s easy to see how the team romped home to victory. Little touches like the homemade biscuits, fine bone china and the Shiatsu massage chairs are all well and good, but the passion the team put into every step of service is what tips them into exceptional.

It doesn’t matter whether they’re backstage at London Fashion Week or perfecting a local bride’s look; Malcolm and his tireless team put oodles of effort into everything they do. Little touches like the homemade biscuits, fine bone china and the Shiatsu massage chairs are all well and good, but the passion the team put into every step of service is what tips them into exceptional.

Their local pride and spirit is evident, and they want everyone who steps through the door to feel fantastic. But they extend their good vibes out to the community as well. Whether it’s supporting local businesses on social media or teaming up with nearby restaurants and cafes for shared discounts, Malcolm Murphy Hair are supporting their fellow high streeters.

Gathering this momentum, the team started a local organisation to bring business owners together. They set up a street festival, campaigned for new shop fronts, targeted messy graffiti and rubbish dumping and collaborated on pretty hanging baskets. Their charity work has also seen them raise thousands of pounds for a local cancer charity – with their logo finding a permanent place on Malcolm in the form of a tattoo! They really will go as far as it takes to make a difference.
