Get party season prep under control

We’re approaching one of the most sociable months of the calendar. So it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to achieve statement hair that’s as ready for the partying as you are!

Has your festive calendar started filling up with endless events and parties? Unsure how to take your look from office desk to dance floor? Luckily for you, the experts at MINDBODY have come up with three top tips on how best to prep your hair and get ready for the glamour and glitz of the season ahead.

Gorgeous hair starts from within

It’s not always obvious, but our diet and lifestyles can have an impact on the shine, gloss and length of our hair. We know that getting in your five a day and an early night aren’t exactly top priorities during party season, but if you can maintain some of your healthy habits, your hair will thank you for it! For example, don’t skip your usual morning workout, as it can actually help your hair to grow! When you sweat from your scalp it helps to unclog hair follicles, giving enough space for the new hair to come through. If you need a bit of extra motivation to workout while its hectic, download the MINDBODY app and filter workouts by time and location to make it more convenient for you. Bootcamp Pilates (based in a number of locations around London) has a 30-minute class that promises to give you a full workout, so there are no excuses.

Mix up your hair regime

Just like your fitness regime, sometimes you need to mix up your hair routine to get maximum results. Take stock of what products you’re using on a regular basis, including everything from shampoo to styling, and ask yourself if you’re getting the results that you’re after. You might be using a product for blonde hair when you’re actually more of a brunette, or your conditioner might be leaving your hair feeling more dewy than nourished.

Create volume with impact

Volume is almost a must for impressive party hair, so invest in products that are going to help you take your hair to new heights! Firstly, choose a volumising shampoo – some formulas can weigh your hair down, so use one that is specifically designed to lift. Also, when you condition your hair, only apply it to the ends to prevent any residue at the roots.

If you don’t have time to wash your hair, then products like dry shampoo and volumising sprays are great for a quick fix (especially if you’re on the go and transitioning from office to party). You can also create some much-needed volume with a simple brush (if you know how to use it!). Top tip – as you dry, hold a rounded brush under your hair and push it upwards to lift your roots to give them the most volume. You should also use a nozzle attachment on your hairdryer, so you can focus the air on the brush.
