The long awaited 2021 BAFTA Awards took place this week with celebrations held at London’s Royal Albert Hall. From Phoebe Dynevor’s classic glam to Rose Bryne’s chic low pony, unsurprisingly our much-loved stars served some major hair moments. Besides each look being worthy of a red carpet, these starlets’ styles had another thing in common – the infamous side part!

Thanks to a viral debate on TikTok, there’s been lots of talk recently about the side parting. With the nation split on middle vs. side parts, we even asked four hairdressers to weigh in on the hot topic and there was certainly a mixed reaction. Is the side part really cancelled? Clearly not according to our favourite film stars.

Created by hairstylist Craig Gangi, Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick debuted a relaxed wave. Swept away from the face with a deep side parting, ghd tools and Oribe products were used to make the magic happen. The look perfectly complimented her Grecian inspired Zuhair Murad dress. Clearly, the timeless parting works for all occasions and styles.

Likewise, rising star Phoebe Dynevor also demonstrated just how versatile the infamous parting can be. Known for her role in hit Netflix series Bridgerton, Phoebe looked just as fabulous off screen. Styled by Dayaruci, Phoebe channelled some major Hollywood glamour. Partnered with an asymmetric Louis Vuitton dress, the undone waves worked perfectly. For more natural movement, volume was added at the roots. If you’re looking to add some extra oomph to your parting, we recommend the Hair by Sam McKnight Modern Hairspray. A multi-tasking mist which can be spritzed at the root for extra volume, it’ll hold your look in place all day long.

For those with shorter strands, actress Rose Byrne proved that the side parting really does work for all lengths. Created by celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak, it was all about sleek and shiny lengths, gathered into a low ponytail with an angular part. As Mara is a fan of Authentic Beauty Concept products, to recreate the look we recommend using Glow Touch spray for added shine.

Fellow actress January Jones even commented on Mara’s Instagram post to say: “See kids! side parts can be cool!” January, we couldn’t agree more…
