Wedding ‘do’s for long hair

Up or down? To veil or not? Choosing a hairstyle for your big day can be beyond daunting, as if you haven’t got enough to think about. We asked bridal hair expert, Joseph Koniak to share his top tips for choosing a wedding style for long hair.

Veil or no veil?
Veils can look beautiful, and are perfect if you’re after a traditional wedding look, but remember that they do cover up your hair so team them with soft waves or a sleek style, nothing too intricate as it will be hidden.

What do you think are the most flattering styles?
Long hair is really versatile so you can basically go for any kind of look you like. Leaving it all down looks really modern right now (I loved when Poppy Delevingne did that) and an up-do is timeless, but for me half up-do’s are the perfect mix of the two – like Kate Middleton’s wedding hair.

How about accessories?
I love a bit of sparkle! Make sure you choose something that can mould around your hair and doesn’t look too stiff – especially if you wear your hair down or half-up. Matching your flowers from your bouquet in your hair is a really nice touch, or even think about having some fabric from your dress wound into a braid.

And any easy ways to change it up for the party?
Don’t be afraid to break your hair up a bit. If it’s up, gently tease out a few wisps around the hairline. If it’s down, carry a small can of texturising spray and use it to make waves look a little undone, or add a touch of dishevelment to straight hair.
